There are many hotels in Sydney but only one 'Simpsons of Potts Point', the small intimate hotel created from the restoration of an 1892 stately Potts Point mansion. To stay as a guest in one of our twelve rooms is to experience the charm and spaciousness of an era long past.
|
Built as the family residence of John Lane Mullins, a member of the New South Wales Colonial Parliament, Simpsons was designed in 1892 by leading Sydney architect, John Bede Barlow. The original feeling of this house has been recaptured in the imaginative restoration which provides spacious rooms, grand halls and stained glass windows. A different range of arts and crafts decorations of the period enhance these. Exquisite prints from the hand of the renowned Australian artist Ellis Rowan, and friezes of Australian flora have been drawn from the collections of Sydney's premier textile museum, the Powerhouse.
The day for our guests starts with healthy continental breakfast with a choice of fruits, nuts, juices and breads. At Simpsons we are proud of our lovely old home and we invite you to share it with us, and our cosmopolitan Potts Point neighbourhood.
