Bathrooms have heaters, heated towel rails, toiletries, shaving points and hair dryers. Comfortable innerspring beds, warmed with electric blankets and feather quilts in winter, will ensure a restful night's sleep. Meals A continental breakfast may include fruit juice, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, toast/croissants. A cooked breakfast may include bacon and eggs, hash browns and tomatoes all followed by filtered coffee and tea. Dinner is available but prior notice is essential. It will be served at the large Rimu dining table. We do serve a complimentary glass of wine with dinner, but as we do not have a liquor licence, please feel free to bring your best-liked bottle with you. Our favourite dinner consists of fresh homemade soup in winter, garlic bread with roast homegrown lamb, roasted potatoes, kumeras and pumpkin with a variety of green vegetables, followed by either homemade apple pie or fresh fruit salad or ice cream. The emphasis is on homecooked meals, with homegrown or local produce. We have our own vegetable garden and fruit trees. A Place to Relax in the Country Be as formal or relaxed, as you like. The more energetic can play tennis on the championship-sized court, with rackets and balls supplied. There are many walks around the area, a specialty being Hamurana Springs where 450,000,000 litres of water come out of the ground per hour. Trout, ducks and swans can be seen in the stream. In winter you can rest beside the open fire with a book or quiet music. Spacious landscaped gardens, with roses, rhododendrons, camellias, and many native trees are a feature of A Panoramic Homestay. Native birds such as tuis and blue herons are frequently heard and seen on the property. Several of the sheep love being patted and in spring you can bottlefeed the lambs. Dave can also include you in any farm activities of the day. |
