Right next door to the property is the newly revamped eighteen-hole Pinjarra Golf Course. Horse-riding can be arranged locally. So you can either be very energetic or relax and unwind with a book and a glass of wine and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and abundant birdlife in the grounds or by the river. Pinjarra, founded in 1834, is one of the oldest towns in Western Australia. It has many fine examples of our early heritage, typified by the old court house and post office in George Sreet. Also located in this area are St John's Church, the old schoolhouse and Edenvale, a huge yet gracious dwelling of eighteen rooms, originally the home of Edward McLarty. Just a stone's throw south is the famous Old Blythewood, the home of John McLarty built in 1860. North of Pinjarra is the Fairbridge settlement that was established as a farm school for British orphan children in 1912. There are several fine wineries in the area, including Raven Wines just a two-minute walk from Lazy River! Here they not only provide fine wines but a selection of appetising food ( Wed-Sun, 10am-5pm). Peel Zoo is just a few minutes drive away. Mandurah is fifteen minutes away. Mandurah is the fastest growing town in WA - a place where canals almost replace some city streets. Being right on the Indian Ocean provides many activities. Stop off at one of the many cafes and restaurants on the town's famous foreshore. You will have an altogether different experience in the town of Dwellingup, nestled in the jarrah forests. Nestled in the Darling Ranges, the town of Dwellingup is twenty minutes away. With close proximity to the Murray River it has become one of the principal playgrounds for adventure and outdoor recreation in the region. Lazy River provides an information booklet on the area with many wonderful day trip suggestions. |
