Family-owned Mungumby Lodge offers the perfect retreat for those looking to experience nature in affordable luxury. The large inground swimming pool is surrounded by superb tropical gardens with the fully licensed restaurant offering an upscale, memorable dining experience. Magnificent rainforest surrounds each bungalow while the main lodge features an open area lounge overlooking Mungumby Creek.

Situated on a private wilderness estate on the northern edge of the million-hectare Greater Daintree National Park, Mungumby Lodge is the perfect rustic retreat ideal for couples and families. The secluded hideaway is just 35km south of Cooktown, and provides a base to explore Cape York, its Aboriginal legends, gold rush history, rainforest reserves and magnificent marine life.

At Mungumby Lodge guests can take advantage of the numerous walking trails, exploring the adjoining World Heritage-listed rainforests and historic mining sites, secret waterfalls and jungle pools of one of the Mungumby estates numerous creeks.

Spectacular waterfalls and inland lakes offer bird watching and trekking lovers with numerous opportunities. The Quinkan Split Rock Art displays some of Australia's most renowned Aboriginal rock art and culture. Nearby, the ocean offers abundant fishing and Great Barrier Reef activities.

Expeditions…

To complement the lodge, guests can book private guided walks and safari tour options to Aboriginal rock art sites, deserted beaches, and the stunning rainforests.

All welcome…

All are welcome at Mungumby Lodge, including happy dogs and other pets (please check before arrival). We don't often get small children, but when we do, the children love the place without making a racket as they are inspired by the wilderness, gardens, creeks and wildlife. In addition, we have family bunglows to accommodate parents with small children.
