The property where the vintage Railway Carriage is situated - now known as Roselou Cottage - was designated a Soldier Settlement plot in 1919 after World War I and occupied by a naval man, Captain Constable.

The land had to be cleared using draft horses and hand tools to make way for the planting of crops but whether this proved successful is not known.

Later, in the 1940s and 50s, the property was occupied by the Bradford family who, for many years, grew tomatoes, potatoes and corn. The little building which is now the Chalet was the packing shed for the produce. The Bradford family, now in involved in honey production, remain in the area to this day.

The large building near the Chalet was originally the stables and later a machinery shed.

The present owners purchased the farm in 1977. In 1989 a vintage railway carriage was acquired from Queensland Railways, renovated and established as an accommodation venue. Gardens, were laid out and the holding named Roselou Cottage - truncated from Rosemary and Louis, as suggested by a friend who now lives in Tasmania.

The historic carriage, circa 1915, is part of Queensland railway history. Its running number is CLV1077. Restoration work took about two and a half years and very few changes have been made from the coach's original layout. Original fittings have been retained and, within the carriage, you will see tickets, photos and other items of railway memorabilia.
