The
Gardens Homestay is
a large Victorian residence built in 1892 and restored and developed
during the 1990s. Your homestay hosts are Neil Harrap and his wife
Sally Guinness. The richly ornamented facade features stained glass,
cast iron lacework, bay windows and wooden fretwork in a delightful
display. A Wellington homestay with style!
We're located in historic Thorndon and just five minutes walk through
the park to Parliament, Lambton Quay and Wellington's shopping and
business centre. It's just two-minute walk to the Wellington Botanic
Gardens and the Lady Norward Rose Garden, even closer to numerous cafes,
restaurants and specialty shops in the historic Tinakori Road shopping
district.
St Mary Street is shown
on the original 1840 plan of Wellington. Nearly all of the houses
in Thorndon are carefully restored or faithful replicas of the
colonial era. The neighbourhood contains a wealth of historic homes
along with the New Zealand Prime Minister's residence which
is set in extensive gardens. At the top of St Mary Street is the Town
Belt with hundreds of hectares of forest and many bush walks.
Splash and swim in the heated freshwater in pool - a
pleasant 26 degrees throughout summer. |
