The approach to the seclusion of Arcadia is through green, temperate rainforest. The cottages are surrounded by rambling gardens with 100-year-old oaks, southern beeches and cathedral-high mountain ash.

In winter, the camellias bloom in pink, red and white; in spring, rhododendrons flower in their hundreds.

Wild ducks paddle on Arcadia's ornamental ponds. Beyond the gardens, distance gives the ranges a watercolour wash of blue. The feeling at Arcadia is relaxing and enchanting.
