If you enjoy riding the waves, you'll be impressed by what the West Coast beaches have to offer. Bethells Beach and O'Neill Bay are within walking distance. A surf patrol operates on Bethells Beach during the summer months.

If you prefer calmer waters, try Lake Wainamu, a great fresh water lake.

Bethells Beach retains the beauty of a beach undiscovered by the masses. Its dramatic scenery and deserted shore have made it a popular location for filming, including Black Beauty, Cleopatra and The Piano.

Wining & Dining

Sample an array of New Zealand fine wines from the vineyards only twenty to thirty minutes from the cottages. There are good restaurants and cafes, too!
