Ashgrove B&B Ashgrove B&B Ashgrove B&B

Ashgrove, an 1846 sandstone house which is one of the oldest in Balmain, was restored in 2014 and the dilapidated garages at the rear were rebuilt to create the guest accommodation.

The B&B cottage is light and airy with windows overlooking the surrounding greenery and water glimpses. Downstairs is a comfortable living area with a kitchenette, small dining table and chairs, sofa and TV. A full-sized single bed/divan can be made up for an additional guest if required at a charge of $25 per night.

The carpeted bedroom upstairs has a comfortable queen size bed with high quality pure cotton sheets, space for another bed or cot if needed, a generous built-in wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer, etc. An iron and ironing board can be found in the cupboard.

The cottage is air-conditioned, and the glass doors lead onto a small private courtyard with a table and chairs for outdoor living.

We provide the ingredients for a light breakfast: bread and condiments, yoghurt, fresh fruit, muesli, fruit juice, tea and coffee. If you want a full cooked breakfast there is an excellent café on the corner, virtually next door, and another just a few metres further away.

Our location is unbeatable. The main Balmain shopping centre is just a few minutes’ walk. The house and the cottage are quiet and private, but within a stone’s throw there are excellent cafés and restaurants, an eclectic corner shop, a choice of massage centres and beauticians and a bus stop for a quick ride to the city. Just a few minutes’ walk away is the Balmain ferry wharf, with ferries going direct to Circular Quay in under 10 minutes.

Ashgrove is set back from the street and blessed with off-street parking. Please give us notice if you want to bring a car, and we will make space for you.

The best option is to use public transport, with a bus stop virtually outside the door and the Balmain ferry wharf a few minutes away.
