PJ's is located underground in the pioneering township of White Cliffs, 255km north-east of Broken Hill.

White Cliffs was the first commercial opal field of Australia and hot summer temperatures found opal miners living in the cool, constant 22 degree temperature of their mines after a hard day’s work!

PJ’s Underground offers three and a half-star accommodation for up to twenty-one visitors in six guest rooms nestled under the 64 million-year-old roof of attractively renovated old mines in historic Turleys Hill.

PJ's Underground welcomes visitors to enjoy the tranquillity of the bush, experience the wonder of living underground and feel a little of the pioneering spirit of the living outback.

We can provide you with dinner with homegrown vegetables and homemade bread.

New Underground 2-Bedroom Cottage adjacent to PJ's Underground offers self-contained privacy for couples, families or friends (sleeps 4). It has a wonderful winter sun area, full kitchen (including dishwasher & washing machine). Breakfast provisions, ground coffee and real tea are supplied. Mine tour included in tariff.

Deposit & Cancellation Policy

  • Our deposit policy is the full cost of the room either by cheque or money order.
  • We can hold a credit card number (MasterCard, Visa) as security for your booking.
  • Nothing will be charged to that credit card unless you cancel and we are unable to rebook your room, or unless you fail to arrive.
