| Guest Wing | Tropical Rainforest Pool | Cassowary |
Licuala Lodge is set in one hectare of tropical rainforest, just one kilometre from the beach. Walk along the boardwalks admiring native flowers and shrubs, grevilleas, callistemons, some amazing bromeliads, crotons, cordylines and dozens of colourful annuals and perennials. Lots of tropical birds and butterflies including the beautiful iridescent blue Ulysses butterfly. View the gardens from your veranda or from our pergola which is slowly becoming smothered by one of the most beautiful flowers in the world – the jade vine. Wander around the garden, and admire the native gingers and heliconias. And if you fancy a cutting or two, ask Mick the head gardener (or is he still the under gardener?). No problems if you fancy mowing the lawns – a ride-on mower is here for your convenience. The waterfall swimming pool can be used day and night. It is a 70,000 litre pool – big enough to have a decent swim. It has a beach entry – great for kids and for those of us who are no longer kids. We have several noodles and a ball to help you enjoy your time in the pool. And if you ask very very nicely, maybe Mick the trainee waiter will bring you a complimentary cold beer or soft drink while you are working hard on your suntan by the pool! |
