Kick off the shoes and get down to some serious business of relaxing at our picturesque property. Meet the horses, Ramona and Spices, say g'day to Josie the working cattle dog. We'll take you on a tour to see the cattle and, if you'd like, Terry will cook you a camp oven dinner by the lily-covered lagoon. Spring and autumn are very mild with average daily temperatures of 24 degrees. Temperatures can reach 30 degrees in summer and some frosts occur in winter but the days warm up quickly. Average rainfall for the year is 144 mm which falls mainly in spring and summer. The nights are always pleasant, even during summer. Biggenden is a rural shire in the Central Burnett District of South East Queensland, only 45 minutes from the coast. Biggenden widely recognised as a live-weight selling centre for beef cattle, the area's main industry. Dairying, peanut production and citrus orchards also feature in the local economy. Water is our most precious commodity so please use it sparingly. Each cottage has its own rain water tank. Your pets are welcome provided they are controlled our wildlife and cattle are precious. |

Wildlife is plentiful. Wallabies feed outside the cottage at night and possums, kookaburras and goannas are regular visitors. The ancient lung fish, Ceratodus, can be seen in the Burnett River only a 15-minute drive away. It's found nowhere else in the world. Enjoy the brilliant sunsets from the cottage veranda with a glass of Edgehill Shiraz, grown and produced on the property. Wake up to the beautiful bird songs: you'll be amazed by how easy it is to forget the rest of the world. |
